How to teach your pet to pay attention:

*Teaching your border collie to pay attention is important to do before you start training your dog.

- Use the border collie's favorite reward.

- Wave it in front of the dog.

- Say the dog's name.

- Make the dog look at you, do not look directly in the dog's eyes, it intimidates them and the dog may look away.

- Hold the dog's eye contact for about 10 seconds.

- Give the dog the reward.

- Repeat the steps listed above until the dog  can pay attention for longer periods of time. Train your pet to concentrate for up to 30 seconds.

- Now your dog is ready to begin obedience training!
