Border collie colors: The most common color of the Border Collie is the classic black and white. They may or may not have the traditional white blaze, stocking tail tip, or collar, and their markings vary. The other colors are not as common.
Border Collies come in different colors such as: solid black, red and white, chocolate, lilac, red merle, which consists of different hues of red mixed with white, blue and white, blue is a sort of silver, slate, or grayish color, blue merle, which are different hues of blue and black mixed with white, black and tan, tricolor, brindle, sable, saddle sable, sable merle, and solid or mostly white.
The hues of the different colors of border collies besides the black and white ones vary, and so does their markings.
The reason there are so many different varieties of color is because border collies were bred for working not for color. Anything goes as long as it is functional.
