Handy Training Supplies:
Treat Pouch: This is very useful for placing treats in. Most will clip on the handler's side. This will prevent the dog from taking the treats out of the trainer's hands and will keep the treats out of site. It lets the trainer have more hand freedom to give hand signals and control the dog.
Clicker: This is useful for letting the dog know what you want it to do. The trainer clicks the clicker when the dog did something the trainer wants, then rewards the dog. Eventually, the dog will do the desired action on command.
Rewards: Some rewards include toys, verbal praise, belly rubs, or treats. Most border collies are willing to work solely for praise.
Other Tips: *The best treats to use are those that are either small, soft, or can be broken apart easily. * Dogs do not comprehend size, but do comprehend amount, so give them small treats.
